December 2008 Update

New Project Year
Renewal contracts will be sent out shortly by email and should be printed, signed, and mailed to the Wolfville Historical Society as soon as possible. If you are opting to wait until the new fiscal year to pay the renewal fee, please send the contract and make note of this.

Steering Committee
The Steering Committee will be holding its next meeting on Thursday, January 22nd. If you have any questions, comments, or issues that you would like to be addressed, please let Karin or a committee member know so that we can add them to the agenda.
One of the items on the agenda is to review the survey results from the blog relating to websites & photographs. If you have not answered these questions, please do so asap. They can be found at the very bottom of the page.

Made in Nova Scotia – Phase III
The deadline for completing this year’s Made in NS project work is fast approaching. Records need to be uploaded to Artefacts Canada by the end of January.

Following is an account of our funding deliverables and progress to date:
1. 170%- Minimum number of museums attending at least one of the workshops/individual training sessions 10 (actual 17).
2. 113%- Minimum number of new museums submitting records to Artefacts Canada 8 (actual 9)
3. 206%- Minimum number of new enriched records uploaded to Artefacts Canada 200 (actual 413)
4. 116%- Minimum number of existing records updated/enriched on Artefacts Canada 150 (Actual 175)

Please note that these numbers include records sent back to sites that may not have been uploaded yet and therefore won’t be counted by CHIN. If you participated but have yet to upload your enriched records, please contact Lynn so that we can make these numbers a reality.

Artefacts Canada Tally
Even with the holiday season, 2,978 records were uploaded to Artefacts Canada in December. This hasn’t changed the regional standings, but Passage museums now have a grand total of 46,685 records online.

Here are the current regional standings:
Southwest: 21,897
Northeast: 15,702
Central: 5,773
Cape Breton: 3,313

Congratulations to the Central region for uploading the most records this month.
If you need help uploading, please contact Lynn or Karin and we’ll walk you through the process.

Data Cleaning
Even with the shorter work month due to the holiday break, Lynn managed to clean almost 7,000 records in December, bringing our new grand total of cleaned records to 121,987.
If your records were cleaned in the past but not uploaded, please contact Lynn or Karin to help you get these records online.
